Why We do it
"The two most significant predictors of success in children who are deaf or hard of hearing are Age of Identification and Parental Involvement."
(Yoshinaga-Itano, Sedy, Moller)
- We support families through the first three years of critical language learning and give strategies to maximize the child's listening and learning potential.
- We help families to make informed choices by providing services tailored to the child's individual language and communication needs.
- We help families through the process of learning about the child's hearing levels and connect them to other families, and various agencies.
Did you Know...
"Children who are deaf or hard of hearing who enter kindergarten with age appropriate language skills are likely to succeed academically." (Ogden, Moores, Moeller)
- Services are provided by the Local Education Agency at no cost
- Babies can qualify for services even if there is not a noticeable language delay-The earlier the better!
- Babies ages birth to three with mild or unilateral hearing loss (hearing loss in one ear) can qualify for services, as they can be at risk for speech and language delay.
